INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL & REWORKS AGORA – FORUM OF PROJECTS & IDEAS
20-23 SEPTEMBER THESSALONIKI, GREECE
REWORKS, the sun-filled music gathering that takes place in Thessaloniki, Greece every September, is happy to announce the first programming of acts for its 14th edition.
On its first wave of the acts announcement, Reworks compiles a programming with a global approach to sound, thanks to some of the most appreciated and influential artists in the recent years' scene. The festival is excited to present this September, Nina Kraviz, Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, Daphni, KiNK, Agoria, Kiasmos DJ, Mano Le Tough and Michael Mayer, while the Hellenic scene will be presented vastly with Territroy, Ison, Tendts, Sworr, Future of Matter and ArKI to be a small but indicative taste on what is going to follow.
Reworks brings together music lovers from all over the world, transforming Thessaloniki into a contemporary music-breathing city every September. From tis very first edition it has presented the work of more than 1000 artists so far.
Partners and collaborations of the 14th edition
Reworks is one of the 8 festivals who participate at We Are Europe a European programme cofunded by Creative Europe. Focusing on the topic of “New Activism in European Culture” in 2018 Reworks and Reworks Agora are honored to welcome for the first time in Greece, Sonar (Spain), TodaysArt (The Netherlands) and c/o pop (Germany) whom will curate part of its artistic and conference program bringing a different edge and unique aesthetic to Thessaloniki. The first announcement of acts include Nina Kraviz (in collaboration with Sonar), Michael Mayer (in collaboration with c/o pop) and Kiasmos DJ (in collaboration with TodaysArt). A symbol on the Greek modern Culture
Bringing together contemporary culture and forward thinking music in an urban environment, Reworks is considered a touchstone for the music and creative arts in Greece and a showcase foρ new trends and emerging talent. It is a national meeting point for the musical youth of the country, and celebrated for its good value and quality programming.
Based around the close connection and ties between the wide spectrum of advanced music, Reworks presents new musical, artistic paths and directions in one of the most historic parts of Greece, the Byzantine city of Thessaloniki. Each of its previous editions has been a landmark in the evolution of forward thinking entertainment, featuring influential musicians, creative artists of both local and international origin and a great atmosphere augmented by the amazing weather that Greece still experiences at the end of the summer.
We define our Future
With over 1000 artists experiencing the festival to date, Reworks resists and encourages to stand still on a difficult economic and cultural environment. Having the economic crisis of 8 years in Greece, being transformed to a now social crisis the need to step up is more necessary than ever before. For that reason the festival urges its audience to “Define their Future” resisting on the current environment and difficulties, encouraging them to follow their dreams and ambitions through creativity proposing a forward thinking musical and artistic environment.
A meeting point throughout Greece and beyond
For the past few years Reworks and Reworks Agora gathers friends of music from all around the country and throughout Europe welcoming them to Thessaloniki giving for 5 days of joy and happiness.
12 stages in total will present a broad spectrum of electronic music. House & techno, Freestyle, Neo- Classical, electronica, jazz, disco which will presented on the 3 outdoor an 9 indoor rooms/stages.
Thessaloniki is naturally a great holiday destination with summer temperatures during September, and the city surrounded by exceptional landscapes and beaches. Reworks is therefore an attractive combination of entertainment, art and holiday.
Serving as a platform for both local and international talent, the festival takes across the beautiful coastal city in Greece’s north east, as a range of venues play host to the varied live performances and DJ sets. The visitor discovers apart from the music also the different venues and areas of the city throughout a 4 day music span.
Over the next few weeks, the lineup will be enriched by further addition including key names of the national and international music scene.
